For many reasons, students may struggle to stay engaged when courses increase the importance and amount of online activity. Monitoring and providing feedback on student activity and engagement often make a big difference in student success. Faculty can:
Act on course analytics to dynamically assess student performance and respond to critical needs
Use the Student Engagement Roster to share feedback on activity and engagement.
Create an anonymous online survey in your Canvas site where students can give you feedback. While it may seem that creating a space for student questions about the syllabus in-person or online is sufficient, there are important issues that students may be experiencing and may feel reluctant to self-disclose (e.g., a reading disorder, lack of access to the internet, PTSD, etc.). Adding an anonymous survey allows students to communicate freely about issues that you need to consider making your course as inclusive and equitable as possible.
